Hi, thanks for visiting my blog. What you’ll find here is discussion about wine in Canada as well as the rest of the wine world.
Here’s a little about me in case you are curious. I’m a wine enthusiast living in Toronto. I spent about six years living in Vancouver prior to moving to the Big Smoke in 2012. As a result I’m really big on BC wines and am now avidly learning about Niagara offerings.
As for the professional side of wine, I spent a couple of years in the vineyard and tasting room at a winery in British Columbia. I also did a stint at Wine & Spirit Education Trust in London, UK.
Certifications:
- WSET Intermediate
- Serving it Right
Current Top Canadian Wine Picks:
- 8th Generation Vineyards Merlot 2008 (BC)
- Cassini Cellars Syrah (BC)
- Organized Crime Cabernet Sauvignon (Ontario)
- Township 7 Vineyards & Winery Sauvignon Blanc (BC)
Cool. Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to more about Canadian wines!
Ms. Mitchell,
I am enjoying your perspective on wines. My family was originally from the Hamilton, St. Catherines area. I was just amazed on my last trip, how much the scenery has changed. I remember more cherry and peach orchards and now much to my enjoyment the area has just exploded with wineries. Another area to study. I look forward to your posts.
Thanks for the comment! I’ve had a similar experience to yours, returning from 7 years out of province only to find a great mix of boutique wineries. Hope you had a chance to try a couple wines when you were there.
We got about sixteen bottles of wine, after tastings. I just wasn’t there long enough to do the area properly. I shall have to go again.
