Having moved within driving radius of Niagara Peninsula wineries this season, I’ve spent some time purusing winery websites. Something cool that I’ve noticed, is the presence of gourmet food trucks that are frequently onsite at various wineries.
One of the most well-known Niagara food trucks is gourmet taco/tapas truck El Gastrónomo Vagabundo. This truck can be found all over Ontario’s food truck scene this season. It participated at Niagara’s first event of it’s kind called Food Truck Eats in May 2012. This weekend you can try it out for yourself at the Kathleen Edward’s concert hosted by Jackson-Trigg’s winery. Ticket’s appear to be still available. @elgastronomo

At $8 for 2 tacos, I’m going to try the buddha belly (five spice pork belly, chili caramel, coconut cream, cucumber) and the bangkok dangerous (coconut red curry beef short rib, cucumber, coriander, fried shallot, lime juice)
Tide & Vine is a Niagara-based oyster bar that can be found at markets and wineries in the region. I first noticed this food truck announcing it’s winery event line-up on Twitter. It markets itself with an active social media presence and serves oysters out of it’s polished VW van. You can try Tide & Wine oysters tonight (or any Thursday this summer) at Ravine Vineyard near Saint Davids, Ontario. If Thursday’s aren’t good for you, try Pillitteri Estates Winery on Friday nights, or Coyote’s Run Estate Winery this coming Saturday. @tideandvine

Grilled Scallop and Peach Skewers with smoked Jalapeno and Honey drizzle. I’m not sure if they serve the same menu at all events but this item looks delicious.
The Canuck Pizza Truck specializes in wood fired pizza out of converted 1946 Chevy Strovebolt truck. I don’t really know what this either, but pictures show an old fashioned yellow cab with truckbed that’s encased in new wood. This is another Niagara-based business that has a presence at local wineries. Try some at Pillitteri Estates Winery on July 28th and August 4th & 5th. These folks appear to release their menus close to the date via social media. @canuckpizzatruc
